Make Up For Ever HD Complexion Travel Kit -- Mini Goodies

Good stuff does not always come in big packages. The best example of this would be the Make Up For Ever HD Complexion Travel Kit. These cute little goodies are perfect for travel or to try out some of the most sought after products from the Make Up For Ever HD line.

I've always wanted to try out the widely applauded products from the MUFE HD range, but can never justify forking out so much money just to TRY the products. So, when Sephora introduced this travel kit, I was literally jumping up and down with joy. I added this to my shopping cart without any hesitation, and shipped it to my brother to bring it back to me.

Review: RuMe Reusable Bags

Has anyone ever went to the mall and start giving yourself a hard time for forgetting to bring the reusable bags? (Me! Me!) That happens to me a lot. All my reusable bags are too bulky for my handbag, and I tend to forget to bring them along whenever I go out. Thus, I constantly have to accept plastic shopping bags from the supermarket, which result to the huge amount of unused plastic bags in the house.

All these changed when I came across RuMe on the internet. RuMe is a Denver, Colorado-based company that is passionate about making quality and affordable reusable bags for everyday people. All their bags are so practical, and not to mention the huge array of colors and designs to choose from. And lucky for me, TinyTapir happens to carry this in Malaysia. Yay! So I happily bought myself a Mini RuMe, just to try it out before throwing a bunch of cash in for the tempting RuMe ALL.

Mini Spring in New York - Patterns - 3 Bag Collection

Here's a run down on the Mini RuMe bag:
  • individual bag size 11" x 11" x 4"
  • handles are 8" long
  • each bag holds up to 30lbs (that's approximately 13.5kg)
  • water resistant and machine washable
  • double bound seems
  • square sides and bottom
I've gotten myself a Mini Spring in NY - Greenwich, which is the right bag in the photo above.

And here are some photos to show the actual size of the bag, compared to some other day-to-day items. (Allure does count as day-to-day items, right?)

The bag is absolutely wonderful. I have quite a bit of reusable bags that I've gotten for free from various stores and supermarkets. None of them stack up to this. The bag folds up to the size of my mobile phone that I can easily chuck into my handbag and tote it around wherever I go. And to top that, you can actually roll up three bags and tie them together with the velcro strap that comes attached to the bag.

L to R: my existing reusable bag (rolled up), Mini RuMe (rolled up), my mobile phone

See how small it rolls up to? And it hardly weighs anything. Like seriously. You wouldn't even realize that you have an additional "bag" in your handbag.

The Mini RuMe is anything but mini. It actually fits quite a bit. I brought it out for some shopping, and it fits a bottle of milk, a load of bread, and a magazine. And after that, there are still plenty of space left. I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious it is. To show you how "big" it is, here's a photo of a 500g Koko Krunch (cereal) in the bag.

The whole cereal box fits nicely inside, with spaces left for probably another five Allure magazines. The Mini might not be the best bag for your weekly grocery shopping. That would be a job for the Regular RuMe (Mini's elder sister). The Mini is best for your random shopping at the mall, to bring lunch to work/school, a run to the supermarket for eggs/bread/milk, to tote those extra files to work or to bring extra sandals and towel to the beach.

Now, you might think that a bag that is able to be folded wouldn't be any good as it'll be all flimsy. Not for the RuMe. It is able to partially supports itself due to the texture of the bag material. If you noticed in the photo above, the bag didn't crumble down on the sides when it's standing up with something inside.

Pros:
  1. Super lightweight.
  2. Folds into this mini little thing that you can fit into you pocket/handbag.
  3. Water resistant.
  4. Tons of colors and patterns to choose from. (Bonus!)
Cons:
  1. I really can't think of any! =D
The best part is, all of RuMe's products are manufactured in a certified Fair Trade Factory.

I highly recommend this to everyone. With that many colors, sizes and patterns to choose from, I can't think of anyone not being able to find something that would suit their lifestyle and taste.

Do you bring around a reusable bag as well? What do you think of the RuMe?

Review: My Lip Stuff Shamrock Shake Lip Balm

I'm doing the missing-act again. (Guilty...) Work has been so busy. And I'm also in the process of moving to a new place, which then involves getting everything setup at the new place.

Okay, enough rambling about how busy my life is. On to the review.

Here's a little history about me and lip balms. We've come a long long way, and it wasn't a good journey. When I was studying overseas, I used to have dry chapped lips during the winter. I'd then get a random lip balm (usually a Nivea one), and use it for about a month, and then either totally forgot about it or lost it all together. *yikes* And I'd never miss them. I hate the artificial smell and taste of most easy-to-get lip balms (Nivea, Vasaline, SebaMed etc.). Even when they say it's "naturally flavored", it definitely doesn't smell like the case. And most of them doesn't even do a good job at moisturizing my lips. They just make it look all shiny. So, yeah, I'm hard to please when it comes to lip balm. Super picky.

Recently, I stumbled upon Xin's review of her latest favorite lip balm, and I'm sold. I immediately ordered one for myself, and never regretted the purchase.

My Lip Stuff is a homemade, natural lipbalm made from only the finest butters, oils, & beeswax.
Just like the drink. Peppermint & Vanilla Ice Cream. -- mylipstuffstore.com

The Shamrock Shake lip balm really smell like the real thing! No kidding. Upon application, I immediately noticed the peppermint smell, then comes the tingle with a very faint hint of vanilla to it. It's not overly sweet and definitely no artificial smell either. It's a colorless and tasteless lip balm, and has a fairly good staying power. With constant water sipping and coffee drinking, I only need to reapply every 2 hours.

This would be the first lip balm that I've stick with for more than a month. I love how it makes my lips so so soft. And I just love the peppermint and vanilla scent. Yummy! I definitely recommend this to anyone who loves anything peppermint.

All My Lip Stuff lip balms are 100% natural, and they do not test on animals. They have over 500 flavors to choose from. So you're bound to find something you like.

You can get this from MyLipStuff for USD$2.50 or MyLipStuffMalaysia at RM12.

Have anyone tried this? Or anyone tempted to get one now? ;)

Sun Smart: Budget Body Sunscreen

We've heard so much about how we should be slathering on sunscreen like no tomorrow. It's actually easier said than done. Whenever I squeeze those sunscreen out of their tubes, a bell will starting ringing at the back of my head and a voice will say "that's 10% of what you just paid and it's only for 1 application". LOL. Alright alright... It's not as creepy as it sounds like. But truth be told, that's what I feel every time I use sunscreen. This doesn't happen with other product though. Weird, I know. Maybe that's because you tend to pay a bit more for sunscreen, considering we only get like 30ml or 40ml of products (I'm talking to you Lancome!).

While I was preparing for my island trip last month, I just thought "that's it, I'm going on the hunt for the perfect budget sunscreen". I've looked high and low, smelled like 10 bottles of sunscreen til I thought I'm going to get high on sunscreen (is that even possible?), and finally found one that has the right balance on value for money, no crazy sunscreen smell, and feels perfect.

As my first post (after such a long break), I think it'd be great to do an updated "What I'm Using Now" post. It's been a while since my previous one, and most of the stuff (say 50%) I use has definitely changed.

Hair Mask - TIGI Bed Head Treat Me Right hair mask (Still loving this! ;) )

Still Alive?

Yes. I'm still alive. =D How long has it been? 6 months? More like 8 I think. LOL.

I really apologize for the long blogging hiatus. It has been a long 8 months for me. As some of you might know, I was applying for graduate school admission for Fall 2010, and the application part itself already took up all of my time and energy. Seriously. After a 10 hours of work, I'd come back home, all exhausted and working on my application already. There's always something to do. However, sadly, the results weren't favorable. Sigh. I admit that was really discouraging and heartbreaking (after all that I've put into it).

But fear not, here I am, back in business. I have lots of reviews lining up and a couple of exciting stuff to show all of you.

And lastly, I'd like to thank all of you who are still here for me even after the long hiatus. =) You guys/gals are awesome!

Stay tune...

Updates...

I've been MIA for the past 2 weeks or so. It has been a very busy 2-weeks for me, and I anticipate this to go on until end of November. Sigh. All these mean that I won't be able to write as much as I would like to in this blog. But fear not, I would still write. Even if I means only 1 post per week, I'd still do it. Hopefully all of you will still enjoy reading them. =)

For those who are curious, I'm currently in the process of applying for graduate school admission. It's a long, tedious process that just annoys me. But what has to be done must be done. So, no complains.

Okie dokie. That's it from me this time. Hope all of you are having a good start to a new week. =)
